What seems more noteworthy, and more concerning,
is the way a single project can rot the judgment of a government otherwise known for its shrewdness.
Maybe the real lesson of Keystone is that debates involving shrill rhetoric, big egos and plenty of money can cause even the smartest people to lose their senses.
Repeal would be as if Vladimir Putin decided that sharing the International Space Station is a bad idea,
and ordered Russia to return to using Mir.
.. many liberated federal convicts will have little in the way of resources.
Many have scant education.
Almost half suffer from drug or alcohol problems.
Most will be branded as ex-cons for life, with diminished job prospects.
And all have been conditioned for years in the manners and mores of the federal pen.

One is that doing this will probably get Apple included in the Dow Jones Industrial Average,
because they’re not grown-ups at the Dow,
and they weight their index by nominal stock prices, which is ridiculous.
